  :: Volunteer Ghana

Ghana is West Africa's Jewel in the Crown. It extends from the sandy shores of the south to the parched savanna of the north. Around the coast of Lake Volta, (the largest reservoir in the world) spans a tropical rain forest broken by low mountainous forests.

Volunteers can experience a range of projects from community development work to experience at English language newspapers. These will include writing news articles or broadcasting social issue pieces on radio. Follow this link to learn more about Accra and the link below for our Volunteer Ghana placements.

Accra

The capital of Ghana was founded by the indigenous Ga people in the 15th Century. It was a centre of trade for French Spanish Dutch and British colonists and was destroyed by earthquakes in 1862 and in 1939. Accra became the capital of the British Gold coast colony and the centre of the Ghanaian Revolution in 1957.

  :: Volunteer Information for Gap Year Students

Gap year students dreaming of ruling the airwaves, can start with our very own Volunteer Ghana broadcasting projects. Native English speakers are welcomed not only for their native language skills, but for their fresh perspective they bring to Ghanaian culture. Here you will have the opportunity to put together interest pieces, programme, produce, research, report and newscast, all vital skills for those serious about broadcasting.

Perhaps you know you want a career in the media, but are unsure what direction you want to take. We have Volunteer Ghana placements in Accra, where you will be involved in all aspects of marketing and public relations. You will be liaising with organisations and involved in the development of communication solutions at a major Ghanaian advertising agency. These skills will help you into media qualifications and can be easily transferred and applied to any media related discipline.
