The exotic enchantment
of this ancient kingdom lies in wait for any volunteers willing
to stray off the beaten track. From the caravan routes of
the Sahara through to the walled citadels of Fez, Morocco
is a country steeped in French colonial influences, Islamic
culture and Berber traditions.
Situated in between the Atlas mountain range and the Rif
Mountains, Morocco is subject to extreme temperatures of upwards
of 40oC in the interior. The majority of the population reside
upon the fertile coastal plains of the North, which experience
more Mediterranean climes. The capital city Marrakech or "Red
City" lies in the foothills of the Atlas Mountains. A
city coloured by the shifting sands of the Sahara and sights
and sounds of the bustling souks, Marrakech is perfect for
volunteers seeking a sensorous experience.
For intrepid volunteers we have Volunteer Morocco projects
exploring the country's breathtaking scenery. Landing at Casablanca,
you will wind your way through the Sahara on camel, visit
the southern pearl Marrakech and experience all the traditional
cultural delights Morocco has to offer.
